The Union Church meetinghouse was built in the autumn of 1835 on the banks of the Powow River and overlooking the Merrimack River. At that time the area known as Point Shore was part of Salisbury, Massachusetts. Initially founded by a small group of women as Union Evangelical Church, the Union Congregational Church of today is a member of the United Church of Christ, one of the largest protestant denominations in Massachusetts, with roots in the faith of our Pilgrim founders.
